Resorting to Last Year's Pictures...

"The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings."
-Eric Hoffer

...thank goodness, I said, for second chances, but on occasion the second chance must be politely declined. It rained copious amounts last night and all the day long the sky was sullen and glum, the ground buried somewhere under the deep puddles.
Nevertheless, I amused myself by reminiscing about last year's festival: about the tram conductor who Spouse and I were absolutely certain was a flesh and blood version of Captain Haddock, the bearded, infamous comic book character; about the fact that it was our first venture into the town- nowadays we visit once a week on library errands; about our awe that the entire event was free, and that we had the opportunity to invest our time and delight in such a party.
This afternoon, as lightning cracked and the sky brooded I felt terribly sorry for the ones who had waited until Sunday to attend and found themselves unexpectedly drenched.
I suppose the music carried on, for it takes a good deal to quell the spirit of any festival, but Spouse and I were glad, anyhow, to have seen it all again so that the loss of our Sunday plan was not as sharp as it might have been.

Glad you enjoyed the festival but sorry about the rain.

I saw 2 live music acts in 2 nights this past weekend, so I'm a happy camper too.

Glad you saved last year's pics for us. Nothing like rain to "dampen" the mood of an outside event. They are fun to attend. Our Blues Fest venue was underwater after the recent hurricane. We'll need to do some major clean up after the water receeds. Pappy

Paul, at least we got one day out of it- and good that you enjoyed seeing some live music too.
I so rarely get to concerts that's it's always a treat when I do. My mother is seeing Tom Waits at the end of this week - I'm not even slightly envious... not even a little... ;)

Texican, when the worst of a storm is over and you realise all is well again, then you remember all the things that got ruined- losing a music festival is no small thing. That's really sad. I'm sure preparations for that went on for a long time, and lots of anticipation.

What is that wonderfully colourfully painted circular thing that the kids are flocking around?
Looks interesting.

Jaime, it was something constructed specifically for the festival last year- I love the colours.
The children had to throw balls and get them through the holes. It was much harder than it looked.
No prizes, just fun :)
